WILLIAM J. BATTISON
Mr. Battison is a Managing Partner of ACG and has over 30 years of operational and deal experience in finance, marketing, operations, and technology. Prior to co-founding Angeles Capital Group he was President and CEO of two Internet companies: RXN Radio, a startup in the interactive radio and telematics arena, and BuyItNow, Inc., a $90+ million revenue e-commerce venture. Previously, he was EVP of Valence Technologies (VLNC), a developer of high tech energy solutions and before that EVP and COO of Iwerks Entertainment (IWRK), where he was responsible for strategic alliances and acquisitions. Also, he spent 9 years as President and CFO of Westwood One, Inc. (WWON), the largest radio network in the country. Bill was with ABC in New York for 5 years as SVP Finance and was responsible for leading the conversion of the radio network industry to satellite distribution. Prior to ABC, he was a Management Consultant in the Technology Management Group of Booz Allen & Hamilton, working in New York and London.
Bill has a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Darden Graduate Business School of UVa. He is currently on the board of several private and public companies in the technology, entertainment and software fields. He is also a member and director emeritus of the Pasadena Angels, an early stage investment group.
JAMES D. SOMES
Mr. Somes is a Managing Partner of Angeles Capital Group and was formerly President, Senior Managing Director and co-founder of Alexander Dunham Capital and Alexander Dunham Securities, Inc. Mr. Somes has more than 25 years experience in investment banking, principally investing and leveraged finance. He has originated, structured and placed over 55 private equity, leveraged acquisition, mezzanine, project finance and international merchant banking transactions amounting to over $5 billion. Previously, Mr. Somes was Vice President of Security Pacific Business Credit where he was the West Coast manager for the company’s $80 million mezzanine debt fund. Prior to that he was Vice President of Citicorp Leveraged Capital and Assistant Vice President with Citicorp International Limited, Citicorp’s Hong Kong-based Asia/Pacific Merchant Bank. Previously, he was a Financial Analyst at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York. Mr. Somes received his Bachelor of Arts in History degree from Tufts University and received his MBA from Columbia University. Additionally, he has been Chairman, Chairman of the Special Committee and served on the Audit and Compensation Committees for Liquid Audio (NASDQ: LQID) where he led that company’s restructuring. He has also served on over 8 private company boards.
ANDREW D. WILLIAMSON
Mr. Williamson is a Managing Director of Angeles Capital Group and was formerly with Alexander Dunham Capital and Alexander Dunham Securities, Inc. He has more than 10 years experience in investment banking and venture capital. He was previously a founding Member of GKM Ventures and an Associate in the Corporate Finance Technology Group with Gerard Klauer Mattison (now BMO Capital Markets). Prior to that, he was an Associate in the Corporate Finance Technology Group with Chanin Capital Partners. Previously, Mr. Williamson was a Senior Manager at Oracle Corporation after being actively involved in the development of Treasury Services Corporation, an enterprise software company that was acquired by Oracle Corporation in 1997. Prior to that, he spent four years at Price Waterhouse. Andrew received his MBA from the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Business at UCLA where he was selected as a Venture Fellow. Mr. Williamson received his Bachelors of Commerce degree at the University of Western Australia. He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the UCLA Venture Capital and Private Equity Alumni.
CHRISTOPHER M. MACINTYRE
Mr. MacIntyre is a Managing Director who contributes 27 years of experience in the securities industry to Angeles Capital, has been involved in raising many millions of dollars in growth capital for a broad range of private and public companies, and has established relationships with institutional investors of all disciplines and sizes. Prior to joining the firm, he was Vice-President of Institutional Equity Sales with MDB Capital in Santa Monica, California, where he was integrally involved in multiple public and private capital transactions. Previously he was Vice-president of Business Development and Marketing for CCG Communications, where he was responsible for interaction with the CEO’s and CFO’s of numerous public companies. Also, he was President and served on the Board of Directors of an Internet media marketing firm, responsible for managing production staff as well as corporate finance and sales and marketing. Previously, he ran the Southern California investment banking operations for Blackwell, Donaldson & Company, completing several private placements for early stage ventures. Throughout the nineties he owned and operated an independent branch office of Paulson Investment Company, helping finance numerous IPO’s and secondary offerings.
Christopher attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon after graduating from The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California. He is the father of two grown sons.
PETER COWEN
Peter is a Managing Director of ACG. He specializes in assisting emerging technology and scalable service companies with strong growth potential. During his career, he has advised more than 200 startups, helped to raise over $150 million for early and middle stage businesses.
Peter was named by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the top 25 angel investors in Los Angeles; Mr. Cowen has invested in more than 30 companies and served on over a dozen Board of Directors. He was one of the first members of the Tech Coast Angels in Los Angeles, which is the largest angel investing group in the country. He also held sales and marketing positions with Hewlett Packard and Unilever.
Mr. Cowen founded the annual UCLA Entrepreneurial Capital Conference, and served as its chairman for seven years. He is a frequent speaker and has lectured on entrepreneurship at UCLA, the University of Southern California and Pepperdine University.
He is currently on the board of directors of the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Business (AGSM) Alumni. He has recently accepted a position to join the UCLA AGSM faculty on a part time basis starting in the summer of 2008.
Mr. Cowen has an MBA in finance from UCLA AGSM and a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. He is married with 2 children and lives in Los Angeles.
J. ALFRED RITTER
Mr. Ritter has over 15 years of corporate finance, operational and entrepreneurial experience in early stage and growth companies. Prior to joining Angeles Capital, Mr. Ritter was with Allen&Associates, an emerging and middle market corporate finance advisory group and worked closely with principals in all phases of engagements from origination to execution of both debt and equity financing, strategic consulting and buyside and sellside M&A advisory for companies in the consumer brands and retail, manufacturing and logistics, and technology. Previously, He was a co-founder of Zen Zoo Tea, Inc., a multi-unit specialty retail chain that he developed, raised equity and debt capital to finance the company’s growth. In addition, Alfred has corporate finance and business development experience in the international manufacturing and logistics, as well as the media and entertainment sectors working with The Star Group and NBC, respectively.
Mr. Ritter graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a minor in Economics from California State University, Los Angeles.
